Hello neighbour,

As you know, the LBPOA is a member of FOCA (Federation of Ontario Cottagers Association). There are 500+ members across the province. Each year, FOCA acknowledges one association with an achievement award. We are thrilled to announce that the LBPOA is the recipient of the 2021 FOCA Achievement Award!

The LBPOA was recognized for its creation of the Roundtable on Lake Health for Lake Bernard which brings together representatives from the Village of Sundridge, the Township of Strong, the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority, the Almaguin Highlands Chamber of Commerce (AHCC) and the Near North Enviro-Education Centre (NNEEC).  The goal in creating the Roundtable was to foster collaborative work efforts on issues relating to our shared interest: the health of Lake Bernard.  The results of this initiative have been such a success to date that FOCA wanted to highlight the LBPOA as an example for other associations.

A special thank you to Sundridge Mayor Lyle Hall, Strong Township Clerk Caitlin Haggart, Robin Allen (NBMCA), Dulcie Pascoe (AHCC), Jocelyn Palm (NNEEC), Doug Cuthbert (LBPOA Board Advisor and Past President), Alan Burt (LBPOA Lake Steward), Bob Renaud (LBPOA Board Member) and Sherrie Berdusco (LBPOA President) for their hard work and dedication to the health of Lake Bernard.

Please see the sign below that will be proudly posted in our community.

Thanks!
